EARLY KEYBOARD WEEKEND, November, 2002
The Museum of the American Piano hosted an "Early Keyboard Weekend" this past November 22nd through the 24th. Several world renowned artists including Bach specialist Rosalyn Tureck performed and/or gave Master Classes. Among them was Harpsichordist Kenneth Cooper. This preeminent performer who has recorded for labels such as CBS, Nonsuch, Vanguard, Musical Heritage Society, and Angel/EMI performed an all Scarlatti program on the French double which is featured on this web site. Dr. Cooper exclaimed it as a "sweet sounding instrument". Likewise, many members of the audience had praise for it's beautiful decoration and sound. Needless to say as the builder I was most grateful to all for their enthusiasm. The instrument was also used in a performance of the comic opera "La Serva Padrona " by Giovanni Pergolesi. Now that the museum is finally getting off the ground after the tragic events of September 11th future events will indubitably be on a more regular basis.
